Auditions Information for FVP presents "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical"
The inspiring true story of Carole King's journey from teenage songwriter to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Auditions: May 19 - 20, 2025, 7:00 pm
Performances: July 11 - 27, 2025
Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script & 36 bars of vocal performance. Provide a clean backing track or sheet music. (accompanist provided). No dance auditions required.

Please note: we are specifying the races of the characters as they are historical figures, some of which are still alive today.
[CAROLE KING] White, Female presenting, 20s, portraying ages 17 to 29 through the show. An aspiring singer/songwriter. A unique, appealing, funny, and vulnerable girl from a Jewish family in Brooklyn. Talented, good-natured, unassuming and often the peacemaker in difficult situations. A reluctant star with no pretense and a passion for music. Some piano skills are preferred but not required. Non-dancing role. A powerful, distinctive voice. Vocal Range: Eb5-Eb3.
[GERRY GOFFIN] White, Male presenting, 20s. Carole’s boyfriend, songwriting partner, and eventual husband. Innately sympathetic, wounded, and tortured. An ambitious artist who is always striving for more. He’s a good guy, maybe a little brooding, who wants to do the right thing but gets lost along the way. Strong singer. Non-dancing role. Baritone/tenor. Vocal Range: A4-D3.
[CYNTHIA WEIL] White, Female presenting, 20s-30s. A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Barry, Carole’s best friend. She is sophisticated, smart & chic with a quick wit. Although self-confident and sarcastic, she is also extremely likable. Strong comic timing and sings extremely well. Belter. Vocal Range: E5-G3.
[BARRY MANN] White, Male presenting, 20s-30s. A songwriter who falls quickly in love with his lyricist Cynthia Weil and spends some time convincing her to marry him, while trying not to die from his anxiety and hypochondria. A strong high tenor comfortable with pop & rock-style singing. Some piano/guitar skills are preferred, but not essential. Vocal Range: A4-C3.
[DON KIRSCHNER] White, Male presenting, 30-50. An influential music publisher and producer. He is a fast-talking, energetic force of nature. He originally hired Carole, Gerry, and Cynthia and helps foster the friendly rivalry between the teams of Goffin/King and Mann/Weil. He’s stone-faced, to the point, maybe a little gruff, but a softy at heart who cares about his writers. Mostly non-singing but may be required to sing in ensemble numbers. Non-dancing role.
[GENIE KLEIN] White, Female presenting, late 40s-50s. Carole’s Jewish mother. Once an aspiring playwright, she is broken down by life & her husband’s infidelity. Protective of Carole and unforgiving of her husband’s mistakes. We mostly see the tough love parts of her, but eventually see the softer side when Carole is in need. Some singing in larger ensemble numbers. Non-dancing role.
[SHIRELLE 1/JANELLE WOODS/Ensemble] – Black, Female presenting, 20s-30s. A pop singer, notably performing the hit “One Fine Day.” An artist for whom Carole and Gerry write music. Janelle becomes the focus of Gerry’s extramarital affairs. Strong movement skills are preferred. Will double in ensemble roles throughout the show. Vocal Range: Alto
[SHIRELLE 2/LITTLE EVA/Ensemble] – Black, Female presenting, 20s-30s. A pop singer who begins working as a babysitter/nanny for Carole and Gerry’s daughter. When Carole and Gerry struggle to find the right person to perform Carole’s latest tune “Locomotion,” they realize Little Eva is the perfect fit. Has charm, charisma and strong movement and vocal ability. Will double in
ensemble roles throughout the show. Vocal Range: Alto w/ High Extension
[SHIRELLE 3/LUCILLE/Ensemble] – BIPOC, Female presenting, 20s-30s Donnie’s secretary. Mostly spoken role. Will double in ensemble roles throughout the show and will include dancing in ensemble numbers. Vocal Range: Alto w/ High Extension
[SHIRELLE 4/“Uptown” Soloist/Ensemble] – BIPOC, Female presenting, 20s-30s. An active member of the ensemble but has a featured moment singing the song “Uptown.” Non-speaking role. Movement will be required. Vocal Range: Alto w/ High Extension
[THE DRIFTERS/Ensemble] – BIPOC, Male presenting, 20s-40s Looking specifically for 1-2 strong tenors. The Drifters are a 4-piece all-male pop/R&B group of the time (like The Temptations / Commodores). Strong ability to blend/harmonize tightly and strong movement required. Will double in ensemble roles throughout the show. “Up on the Roof”, “On Broadway” plus Vocal Range: All will be considered to make up this musical group.
[RIGHTEOUS BROTHER 1/NEIL SEDAKA/LOU ADLER/Ensemble] – White, Male presenting, 35-50s. A 1960s vocal icon, an influential record producer and executive in the sixties. Non-dancing role but will require singing and some movement in ensemble numbers. Some piano skills are preferred, but not essential. Vocal Range: Tenor
[RIGHTEOUS BROTHER 2/NICK/Ensemble] – White, Male presenting, 20s-40s. New York-based session musician. Nick is responsible for getting Carole to perform her music as herself. There’s a connection with Carole, but she is wary of getting involved. Non-dancing role but will require singing and some movement in ensemble numbers. Some guitar skills are preferred, but not essential. Vocal Range: Baritone
[BETTY/Ensemble] – White, Female presenting, 20s. Carole’s childhood best friend and confidant. Mostly spoken role. Will double in ensemble roles throughout the show and will include movement in ensemble numbers. Vocal Range: Alto
[MARILYN WALD/Ensemble] – White, Female presenting, 20s-30s. A pop singer, notably performing “Pleasant Valley Sunday.” Will double in ensemble roles throughout the show and may include dancing in ensemble numbers. Vocal Range: Alto.
[BOBBY VEE/Ensemble] – White, Male presenting, 20s-30s. An American singer who was a teen idol in the early 1960s and also appeared in films. Will require some movement. Vocal Range: Tenor.
Auditions Information for FVP presents "Evil Dead The Musical"
The classic cult films come to life on stage in one of the craziest, funniest and bloodiest theatrical experiences of all time. As this show is rated "R", actors must be ages 18 and older.

Roles available:
[ASH] - Male presenting, 18-22. A housewares employee who turns into a chainsaw-wielding hero. Vocal Range: B4-B2.
[CHERYL] - Female presenting, 18-22. Ash’s dorky sister who turns into a brash, foul-mouthed demon. Vocal Range: Ab5-G3.
[ANNIE] - Female presenting, 24-29. A brilliant archaeologist, also plays Shelly, a ditzy airhead. Vocal Range: C6-Ab3.
[JAKE] - Male presenting, 30-45. A guy who they meet in the woods. Vocal Range: B4-G2.
[LINDA] - Female presenting, 18-22. Ash’s perfect girlfriend who loses her head by the end of the show. Vocal Range: E5-G3.
[SCOTT] - Male presenting, 18-22. Ash’s crude best friend. He’s an a**hole, but the kind of a**hole you love. Vocal Range: Bb4-C3.
[ED] - Male presenting, 24-29. Annie’s boyfriend who can’t get a word in. Vocal Range: G#4-A2.
[FAKE SHEMP] - This role is basically all of the small roles in the show: Knowby, Airport Announcer, the Severed Hand, Linda’s Headless Body, the Evil Force, etc.
